Global Village Academy is accepting resumes for a highly qualified sixth grade Social Studies teacher who has the skills and desire to:
(We need someone who will be available for training this spring ( two days in April) and summer ( July 6-11), before our regular training starts at the end of July.)
- Engage students with a dynamic , rigorous curriculum following the Colorado state standards using project-based and problem-based learning as the primary method of instruction
- Work with language teachers from around the world
- Be facilitators of learning rather than “keepers of knowledge”
- Work in a team of teachers across different subject areas to develop meaningful learning experiences
- Create an environment where students are collaborative, self-directed global learners
- Use technology as a tool for global learning
JOB SUMMARY:
Teaches courses in social studies, history, geography, American government, political science, or humanities to 6th grade pupils, utilizing core curriculum and other appropriate learning activities; Works to develop in each pupil an appreciation of American ideals and cultural heritage; develops proficiency in the use of social studies inquiry skills and concepts; motivates each pupil to understand and exercise his rights, privileges, and responsibilities as a citizen; develops understanding of the geographical, historical, cultural, and political factors which influence the development of world regions; encourages pupils to develop sound opinions based on study of facts concerning operation of political and economic systems.
Qualifications:
Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or higher and have passed the PLACE or PRAXIS exam in Elementary Education or content area, or take either of the exams and pass within 90 days of hire.
